Where pigeons roost, droppings accumulate fast: on balconies and window ledges, in lofts and plant rooms, under solar panels and across flat roofs. Mixed with feathers, nesting material and dead birds, the build-up becomes a serious hygiene problem.

Dried guano breaks into fine dust that is easily breathed in when disturbed. That is why we don’t recommend sweeping it up yourself. Our team works in full protective equipment and follows a controlled process from start to finish.

What to look for

  • White and grey crusted deposits on ledges, sills and roof areas
  • Feathers, nesting debris or dead birds in lofts, voids or plant rooms
  • A strong ammonia smell in enclosed spaces
  • Stained or eroded stonework, render and paint below roosting points
  • Blocked gutters, outlets and downpipes

Why guano needs a professional clean

Bird droppings can harbour fungi and bacteria linked to illnesses such as histoplasmosis, cryptococcosis and psittacosis, which are contracted by breathing in contaminated dust. Guano also attracts secondary pests such as bird mites, carpet beetles and flies.

Its acidity damages roofing, metalwork, stone and paint, and wet guano on walkways and fire escapes is a genuine slip hazard and a health-and-safety liability for businesses.

How we deal with it

  1. Risk assessment

We assess access, quantity and hazards, and plan safe working, including access equipment for roofs and heights.

  2. Controlled removal

Deposits are dampened down with a biocide to suppress dust, then scraped and bagged by operatives in respirators and disposable coveralls.

  3. Sanitise

All affected surfaces are disinfected to kill remaining bacteria and fungal spores and to neutralise odour.

  4. Disposal & proofing

Waste is removed and disposed of through licensed channels. We then recommend proofing so the birds can’t return.

Keeping it from coming back

  • Proof roosting areas with netting, spikes or wire once cleaned.
  • Clear gutters and outlets regularly on buildings with bird activity.
  • Book scheduled cleans for commercial sites with ongoing pressure.
  • Fit solar panel mesh to stop debris building up under arrays.

Pigeon guano cleaning:
your questions.

How much does pigeon guano cleaning control cost?

Pigeon guano cleaning control starts from €195 including VAT. That covers: clean-up and sanitising of one small area such as a balcony. Larger properties, severe infestations and commercial sites are quoted after a survey, and you get a fixed price before any work starts.

Can I clean up pigeon droppings myself?

Small fresh amounts can be cleaned with gloves and disinfectant. Large, dried build-ups, especially in enclosed spaces like lofts, should be handled by professionals because of the dust risk.

Do you clean under solar panels?

Yes. We remove nests, droppings and debris from beneath panels, then fit mesh to stop pigeons returning.

Do you provide paperwork for commercial sites?

Yes. We provide a risk assessment, method statement and waste disposal documentation on request.
